Summary
Measure the CO2 level (PPM) in a conference room to help occupants determine when to increase ventilation to reduce risk of transmission of air-borne illnesses.
Design
Using an ESP-Wroom-32 and an SCD30 sensor, a web server is created that constantly updates to show the real-time CO2 level. It is presented in and easy to read gauge and pops alert messages to increase ventilation when thresholds are met.
Cloud
With the data being sent to the cloud, any number of these could be monitored at a facility or subsequent triggers could automatically operate other devices. Example: Air filters, fans, or windows could be automatcally opened if the risk gets too high in a conference room.
Example of Measured CO2 in a 7-person meeting
Levels in a one hour meeting jumped from 800 to 2100 PPM, which proxies more than a 3 times increase in transmission risk.
