Summary

The FleetVu 2.0 software application is a complete redesign of the origintal FleetVuManger application. Several key improvements were implemented including:

  • replacing Coldfusion with NodeJS
  • bringing the solution into an AWS VPC (including full database migration)
  • updating the site to leverage AWS Lambda's for all database interactions
  • refresh the user interface of the entire site

This not only allowed Digital Ally to save money by switching to lower cost AWS services, but also allowed the solution to support newer devices being added this year.

My Contribution

I helped design the backend infrastructure setting up the VPC, migrating the database, and configuring the session tracking and Lambda methods used. I brought on board three additional software developers to continue to migrate functionality and features from the previous solution to the new infrastructure.

FleetVuManager is a Complete Video & Telematics Management Solution. This updated version includes:

  • Improved database interaction via AWS API, Lambdas, and database proxy.
  • More intuitive and user friendly experience.
  • Nearly serverless design using several of AWS' best practices and serverless methods
  • Added support for new products and features coming this year.
