Summary
A system to monitor a location using a Cellular Wireless Gateway, a combination of battery-powered wireless Sensors, and a Cloud-based Application. The system allowed the customer to gather data regarding a location, identify patterns to improve management, and be actively alerted if custom thresholds were reached. Sensors included temperature, probe temperature, water, switch, PIR motion, AC Current, humidity, and movement.
My Contribution
I developed the first version of both the hardware and software (cloud and embedded) over a three month period while I worked at the Farnham Company. After getting six locations started with the platform, I met an entrepeneur who helped me launch Zebo Corporation. With help from a volunteer team, I refined the gateway and sensors for production and to improve the range. I worked with an over-sea manufacturing team to ultimately supply the product. After a short time working with an over-sea software company to refine the Zebo Web Application, I rebuilt the entire platform from scratch on my own to get a few features finished up within budget. Without a marketing team, I took on the task and along with another salesperson, began selling and demonstrating the solution to every property manager in Kansas Ciy. We sold many units but not enough to acheive critical mass and Zebo closed a few years later. We offered great support and had a very happy customer base.
